The Woodward 8237-1006 is a high-reliability microprocessor-based safety controller from Woodward ProTech-GII series. Woodward 8237-1006 adopts Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) architecture with 2-out-of-3 voting logic, developed for overspeed protection of critical rotating machinery including steam turbines, gas turbines and hydro turbines. Woodward 8237-1006 operates independently from the main turbine governor system, providing dedicated safety trip protection to prevent catastrophic equipment damage caused by turbine overspeed.

Woodward 8237-1006 accepts three independent magnetic pickup (MPU) speed inputs. It features fast response time up to 12ms, peak speed recording, acceleration detection and first-out trip fault indication to simplify post-trip troubleshooting. Woodward 8237-1006 supports Modbus RS-485 communication with optional Ethernet via PCT configuration tool, enabling seamless integration with DCS and SCADA monitoring systems. Certified SIL-3 to IEC 61508 standard, Woodward 8237-1006 delivers high safety integrity for power plants, oil & gas and CHP facilities.
